MOTO GUZZI V7 SPORT RACER

David McMillan’s brutal-looking racer is heavily uprated, but still within the regulations of the Scottish Classic Racing Motorcycle Club. That means it has the standard ‘Tonti’ frame, and 18” wire wheels with period brakes. But although the engine and gearbox look original from the outside, on the inside it’s a free-for-all. McMillan sought advice from American Guzzi racer Charley Cole—and then boosted displacement from 748 to 992 cc using a ‘fanatically polished, lightened and dynamically balanced’ stroker crank. Carillo rods connect high compression JE pistons sliding in Nikasil-treated Gilardoni barrels. Sitting atop this goodness are Mike Rich heads, big valves, titanium pushrods and a Megacycle cam. There’s not much ground clearance with those pipes, but i bet they sound incredible.
